The off-season is officially ON!
Well the Arms race has started in the American League East today...news is coming in fast and furious
- In New York: Gary Sheffield has been traded to the Tigers for 3 pitching prospects. Looking at their stats this seems like a great deal for the Yankees. Aaron Gleeman has a good analysis including the prospect breakdown.
- In Boston: It seems as though the Red Sox have won the Matsuzaka bidding with a bid thought to be over $40 million! They now have thirty days to sign him...
- In Chicago (Cubland): Aramis Ramirez has opted out of his 2 year deal and will want a six year contract.
So this has been one BUSY Friday for transactions already. I think the Yanks got a great deal, the Red Sox will probably get stronger and kept the pitcher away from their biggest opponent and that Aramis Ramirez will be overpaid. I'm on vacation but I have posted Part 1 and 2 of the Beane count and will probably post Part 3 Monday if not earlier. Stay tuned true believers...
