TNT: Thursday Night

Apparently, money won't be an issue if the Jays want to make a run at it. This is fantastic news for Jays fans but when did this all come about, where is this money coming from? They must be selling a lot of season tickets in Toronto. I don't mind, at all, but I hope it's not a two year run at it and then ten years of mediocrity. It's an incredibly difficult division but at some point, this team needs to be an almost annual contender. I hope the money will also be spent in draft bonuses and player development for the Minor Leaguers. Building from within is the answer, not for this season, but for long term success.

A great article about MW/MP from baseball prospectus. Exploring it deeper and finding that almost every team in MLB would probably be better off fielding a team of minimum wage players for revenue's sakes. But then wouldn't these minimum wage players cost more as the other better players would be unattractive. And then wouldn't someone take a flyer on a now cheaper better player, and then another, and another...until payrolls escalated? Yeh It's a nice thought but it doesn't work...

Sports Illustrated profiles the creater of baseballreference.com. I could not live without this site, so bless him!

It's funny when you have an idea of what someone looks like and then the look completely different. I don't know what I thought he would look like but that wasn't it. Like you Jules, you probably look way different than I picture you.

Where do you think BP's future is? It seems like their golden age has passed and now they're just treading water a bit in regards to the analysis type articles like Fox's Schrodinger's Bat. I thought his article this week was bland and uninsprired (the last few beofre this one too). I still like most of the stuff on the site and pecota is the man but I just wonder sometimes. You're right though, the MW/MP was good. Future shock's are great and TA although sometimes elitish are also great for the most part. The good still outweight the medicore by alot but it's not as much as a few years ago.

Okay, maybe uninspired is the wrong word because he obviously puts a lot of work into them and he seems to have passion. I guess what I'm getting at is that he seems to be analysing things that aren't particularly meaningful/important. Who knows though? To each his own, maybe most people find them fascinating.

I liken it to rap music. Pre 1995 rap music is unbelievably soulful and full of important creative lyics and messages. Now what you hear on the radio is such a bastardization of what rap is supposed to be. I understand things are cyclical, but baseball analysis sometimes seems like it's hit a dull spot and is not what it used to be. I don't know if that even makes sense and I understand that this might be taken as a diss to your website. I hope it is taken that way because I obviously enjoy reading what you have to say.

So, I read the Jays Future Shock and while I'm fine with the grades and what not, duke is terribly wrong about Aaron Hill. I migth have unreasonable expectations for him but he is already an average second basemen. I know his age but this is his absolute basement. He'll settle in at 310/375/450 for his prime with gold glove defense if he stays at second. Love his game, love it. Migth be my favorite bluejay. Well besides Halladay, cause well he's the truth.
